Deputy Mayor of London for Business

Rajesh Agrawal is the Deputy Mayor of London for Business. Born in India, Rajesh moved to London in 2001. As an entrepreneur he founded RationalFX in 2005, and Xendpay in 2014, both companies utilising technology to reduce the cost of international money transfer for businesses and individuals. Rajesh is passionate about promoting entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for young people. He was appointed Chair of Oxfam’s Enterprise Development Programme in 2015 and has been a Patron of the Prince’s Trust for many years. As Deputy Mayor Rajesh aims to be a strong voice for London’s business community, protecting jobs and growth, and ensuring that the capital remains the most open and attractive place to do business in the world.

Recently named as one of the top 100 Tech people in the UK, Maila runs the UK and Ireland investment team for Business Sweden with a particular focus on fintech, digital health and the games sectors.  She also sits on the Executive Board for the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Council and is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Westminster Business School. An experienced angel investor in, and advisor to, disruptive technology based businesses, Maila is constantly on the lookout for new ideas, technology and relationships to drive significant and long lasting improvement and business growth.

Taha is the Chair of UK Asian Business Council (UKABC). In addition, he is the Managing Director of Monkey Consulting Ltd, where he specialises in international business development and marketing focusing on the following sectors: Taha has recently joined Asia TV Global  as CEO and will host segments focusing on business and politics, including Business Talk with Taha, Politics: The Debate and In Conversation with Taha. His experience of 22 years in business spans across a number of geographical regions, including the UK, Europe, Asia, Americas and Africa. He has been appointed at the Economic & Business Advisor to the Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara in Uganda.

Arlene Foster

Arlene has been involved in politics since a student at Queen's University, Belfast.  A lawyer by profession, she was born in Fermanagh and still lives there with her family.  When the Executive was established in 2007, Arlene was appointed as Environment Minister. Arlene served as Enterprise Minister from 2008 to 2015. During this period she attracted major events like the MTV awards, the Irish Open and Giro d'Italia and secured record levels of investment.  Arlene was appointed as Minister for Finance in May 2015. Arlene Foster became DUP Leader in December 2015 and First Minister of NI in January 2016.

Shanu S.P. Hinduja

A senior member of the Hinduja Group, Shanu S.P. Hinduja is Chair of Hinduja Bank (Switzerland) Ltd, Chair of the Hinduja Foundation US, and Co-Chair and Director of Hinduja Global Solutions Inc. She is a respected speaker on the world's most pressing issues - having notably addressed the leaders of more than 130 countries at the UN General Assembly. In addition to supporting the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the UN Global Accelerator programme, alongside her father Shanu has provided scholarships at Columbia University, Massachusetts General Hospital and Cambridge University through the Hinduja Foundation. Shanu was a founding member of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco's environment-focused Foundation, and graduated in finance and economics from the INSEAD Business School in France. She works closely with her sister Vinoo, and her children Karam and Lavanya.

Dr Kamel Hothi OBE has been breaking glass ceilings in the banking world for over four decades is ranked in the top 100 most influential BAME leaders in the UK by the FT and was awarded an OBE for services to promoting diversity in banking. She now supports several boards as an NED, Advisor & Trustee including the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, Alzheimer’s Society, while still balancing the demands of a traditional Indian extended family with 4 generations living in one household.

Dr. Virmani is a political and economic analyst, a writer, a disruptive social entrepreneur, a well being trainer, a TED speaker and a passionate advocate for women's issues. Dr. Virmani was awarded a PhD from the University of Bristol. Dame Asha Khemka DBE DL

Dame Asha Khemka stepped down as Principal and Chief Executive of West Nottinghamshire College Group in September 2018 after 12 and a half successful years at its helm. During her tenure, she led:

  • the college turnover from £23 to £70m at it's peak
  • a growth in apprenticeship numbers from 150 to 14,000
  • a £50m facelift of the college's buildings and infrastructure, turning it around into one of the most progressive (and impressive) further education learning environments in the country
  • the creation of The University Centre of Mansfield; marking a moment in history
  • the government's apprenticeship agenda nationally
  • the creation of The Inspire & Achieve Charitable Foundation to support youth from deprived families
  • the transformation of the lives of hundreds if not thousands of young people in the areas of Mansfield & Ashfield

Dame Asha's representation on national boards and committees includes: the Association of Colleges, the Education and Training Foundation, the University of Nottingham, the Indo British Trade Council and Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Local Enterprise Partnership and the Institute for Apprenticeships, chairing its Quality Assurance Committee.  She currently sits on the Cabinet Office's Education Honours Committee and is a Board member of Education and Training Group. In 2009 she was appointed Officer of the British Empire (OBE) for services to education, and when in 2014 she was awarded a Damehood (DBE), in the same year she was crowned 'Woman of the Year', presented in person by the British Prime Minister David Cameron. Adding to a wealth of national and international accolades including NRI Gold Award, Asian Woman of Achievement, National Jewel and Inspirational Women of the Year, in November 2016 Dame Asha was acknowledged for her 'Overall Contribution to Apprenticeships' at the Asian Apprenticeship Awards and in April 2017 named 'Businesswoman of the Year' at the annual Asian Business Awards Midlands.
